MONDAY MORNING (2001)
A short film
in the docu-reality genre that takes an
offbeat look at the traffic in Indian cities, particularly
Mumbai.
It travels with an office-goer as he rides his
motorcycle
to
work on a Monday morning.
A typical trip to the office includes, among other things,
snaking his way through traffic snarls, breaking lanes
with impunity, driving on the pavement and racing along
the wrong side of the
road. All in a day's work, it seems.
Unsuspecting participants in this drama are members of
the public, who are captured by the camera going about
their business.
Through our protagonist's eyes, the audience thus gets to
see, close up, urban life at its worst or perhaps its most
dynamic, depending on your viewpoint. But what about our
office-goer: does he finally make it to work or not?
Monday Morning
was screened in the Digital Talkies International Film Festival 2001.
